About This Project

Cape Smokey is a mountain along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. In the winter, Cape Smokey features a ski hill and lodge facilities. In 2019, new owners wanted to create a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. Cape Smokey features Atlantic Canada’s first gondola and North America’s first treewalk.

Many more activities will be coming to Cape Smokey in 2022. During the winter months, guests will be able to sled and tube, rent snowmobiles, snowshoe, backcountry ski, heli ski, and participate in snow sculpture contests and winter festivals. In the summer months guests will be able to rent tricycles, tube in the lazy river, canoe, row, orienteer, kite, hike on the trails among many more activities.
