About This Project

Park People released the third Canadian City Parks Report discussing the lessons learned from COVID-19. The use of parks has increased during the pandemic, but it has also brought to light the work that needs to be done in addressing inequities and discrimination, particularly around homelessness in parks and anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism. A survey of Canadians has shown that people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of colour are more likely to report experiencing barriers to park use. The 2021 Canadian City Parks Report focuses on how parks can foster more resilient, equitable cities in both the recovery from COVID-19 and, more broadly, during the looming climate change crisis.
