Study Recruitment: Exploring the experiences of children with physical disabilities and their caregivers when accessing green spaces

Researchers at Nipissing University are looking for participants for a research study exploring the experiences of children with physical disabilities and their caregivers when accessing green spaces.

Participation involves:

Option 1: One 45 minute virtual interview and one 60 minute go-along interview at a public green space in the Halton region.

Option 2: One 60 minute virtual focus group.

Compensation (For both options): Follow-up contact as needed and a $25.00 gift card provided upon completion.

This research study investigates the experiences of children with physical disabilities and their caregivers while accessing green spaces in the Hamilton/Halton Region. The intent is to learn about the barriers and affordances to access, how participants have been included in green space planning processes, and accessible green space design.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

  • Kids and Teens (Ages 10–16) who experience disability, where that disability impacts their access to outdoor green spaces.
  • Caregiver(s) of a child with a physical disability that impacts their access to outdoor green spaces.
