The Raising Canada 2020 Report provides an in-depth review of the top 10 threats to childhood. This year, the report focuses on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on these threats.
Among the top 10 threats is physical inactivity. Highlighted in the report are findings from the 2020 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth that only 21% of children engage in active play for more than 1.5 hours per day. Also highlighted is the survey on children’s movement behaviours during the COVID-19 pandemic, conducted in collaboration with Outdoor Play Canada, showing that 62% of children have been less active outdoors.
