September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, an opportunity for the public to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools, the intergenerational harm they caused to Indigenous families and communities, and to honour those affected by this injustice. This federal holiday is an effort on behalf of the Government of Canada to respond to actions outlined in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, specifically, Call to Action 80. Members of the public are invited and encouraged to recognize this day through quiet reflection and/or participation in a community event. Outdoor Play Canada recognizes this day of reflection and supports the journey to truth and reconciliation through outdoor play.
